Its been a long time since Prof.Lemos Jr first started grappling!
The first time Prof. Lemos Jr discovered a grappling art was in 1988, when he was 10 years old in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil. The art was Judo and his sensei was Antonio Pedroso, a Brazilian air force pilot, Judo teacher and also a former champion.
Sensei Pedroso, among many unforgettable lessons, planted a very important seed on Prof.Lemos Jr heart – the love for grappling.
Prof.Lemos Jr’s grappling quest then took a different path, which lead him to become one of the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teachers and athlete.
Because of his ultimate goal to become a master in the ground game he dedicated himself completely to BJJ, interrupting his Judo training for several years, only returning to pratice Judo in solid basis on 2007 in UK with Sensei’s Andy Marshall and Les Eacock.
Early in 2009, Carlos moved to USA and started training Judo on a regular basis at Tohkon judo under Sensei Douglas Tono 6th dan and Sensei Majemite Omagbaluwage, who is 5th dan and three time Olympian.
On 18th June 2009, Prof.Lemos Jr was finally awarded his brown belt. According to prof.Carlos Lemos Jr,his training under some of the best Judo players of UK and USA is helping him on his standing game on competitions.
Prof.Lemos Jr stated, “I would not be able to come this far without the help of the great instructors and players of Erdington Judo Club and Tohkon Judo. I’m very fortunate to have them.”

Gracie Barra Finland under Prof.Lemos Jr and Prof. Jukka “Lex Lutthor”Lemola(Brown Belt under Prof.Carlos Lemos Jr),did spectacular job on The Finnish Nationals!
The event took place in Helsinki 23rd and 24th fo May.
Prof.Jukka “Lex Lemola” said:
We got several silver medalists and two new gold medalists in the Finnish National championships!
When I and Prof.Carlos Lemos Jr started the first Gracie Barra school over here couple of years ago,it was all a distant dream,right now seeing these kids becaming the best in the country is a dream becoming true.concluded Prof.Lemola.
Severi Nenonen won the gold medal in blue belts division, under 64 kg’s, and
Teemu Eloranta won the white belt division, under 82,3 kg’s.
Because of his success in the Nationals, Severi Nenonen will be representing Gracie Barra and Finland in the next European championships.
Both of the fighters showed great attitude and technical excellence in
their fights. The whole Gracie Barra family congaratulates both of the
new Finnish National Champions.
Just highlighting that Finland got some of the best grapplers in Europe and its National championships is nothing but high class BJJ.

After two and a half years of not competed, and concentrating on teaching Jiu-jtisu around the world, Carlos entered the Mundials. Carlos’ words was that he had a, “remarkable championship” and he loved competing. Carlos won his fight two matches, including a fight with a Rio State Champion. His third match was with one of the favourite in the division, Rafael Mendes. Unfortunately, Carlos lost this match in a close match, and Mendes went on to fight in the final.
Carlos believes he is on the right path with his own training. Although he didn’t win the championship, to him, it was a victory and asurance that he is on the right path.

NAGA – 30th May 2009
Adult No-GI division Prof. Carlos Lemos Jr lead the team taking first place defeating WEC’s and MMA icon Jeff Curran at NAGA. Jeff is one of the best 155lbs fighters pound for pound today.
Prof. Carlos Lemos Jr came back very strong after taking three years off from competing dedicating himself mainly to teaching the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Prof. Carlos Lemos Jr also took first place in his GI-division defeating MMA fighter and BJJ black belt Henry Matamoros.
